XH122 Beverley C1 Withdrawn From Use at Bicester on 24th December 1967
XH122 first flight was 13th March 1957 then delivered to 30 Squadron a few days later.
There was a Cat 3 accident on 26th October 1959 when XH122 suffered a nose wheel hydraulic failure
and was forced to make an emergency landing at Dijon. After repair the Aircraft was back with 30
Squadron on 5th February 1960.
XH122 left Muharraq on 15th September 1966 for refurbishing and camouflaging in Hong Kong, arriving back
with 30 Squadron in January 1967.
But its stay was short and in July 1967 the Aircraft was assigned to 84 Squadron, but only for 4 Months as
the run down of the Beverley Fleet was underway.
On the 3rd October 1967 XH122 made its last flight operational flight when it was returned to
Abingdon, where it was declared a Non Effective Airframe (NEW), but made one last hop to Bicester
where it was put to use as an air-portability trainer for
5 Squadron RAF Regiment (Light Anti-Aircraft). Finally going for Scrap in early 1971.
