XB291 first flight was 18th October 1956 and delivered to 53 Squadron, then to the Abingdon wing in 1958.

After a series of modifications the Aircraft was assigned to 34 Squadron in February 1964.

XB291 was Struck off Charge (SOC) 14th February 1968 and was scrapped at Seletar.
