XB286 Beverley C1 of 47 Squadron RAF at Abingdon on 20th August 1960

XB286 first flight was 13th June 1956 and delivered to 47 squadron, but transferred to 53 Squadron
on the 2nd July 1956 as their first aircraft.
Became part of the Abingdon Wing shared Fleet in 1958.
On the 24th January 1961 XB286 suffered a Category 3 accident, when the rear escape hatch came off
in flight, but the Aircraft landed safely back at Abingdon.
On the 28th June 1963, XB286 was back with 47 squadron as 53 Squadron disbanded and the Abingdon Wing was
dissolved. XB286 was allocated to 242 OCU in 1964, but returned to 47 squadron in February 1967 when the OCU
Beverley Flight was disbanded.
XB286 became NEA [non effective airframe] on 14th November 1967 after a total 5,797 hours with
6,780 landings, and was subsequently sold as scrap to BKL Alloys on the 25th September 1969.
