Picture Notes & Links
The same Aircraft is shown on the previous page with Clamshell Doors fitted
XB285 had its first flight on May 25th 1956, to 47 squadron, and transferred to the shared Abingdon Wing Fleet in 1958. Its next move was a visit to Blackburn's for a series of Modifications, which once completed resulted in XB285 being returned Abingdon and allocated to 47 squadron.
However more Modifications were required and this time XB285 went to A&AEE. On its return to 47 Squadron it was the last of their Aircraft to have the Dayglo bands removed around March 1967.
It was declared NEA [non effective airframe] on 12th November 1967 and was dismantled August 1968. Eventually being sold as scrap January 1969.
