What a year for weather at the Airshows this year; at most, pretty awful is a polite way of putting it! Only two shows were not ruined by weather these being Farnborough and the RAFA's Shoreham show (See Airshows 2008 - Part 2). The latter being the best for being a warm day with clear blue skies.

Normally my first show of the Airshow season is Southend, and this in recent years has become notable for bad weather with the sky normally laden with rain. This Year there were only short showers at the airport and even some sunshine and blue sky for the Sea Front Display.

Next up was the Biggin Hill Air Fair. The morning was perfect with good clear skies, but this too turned miserable with very grey skies, playing havoc for decently lit shots; with most having to be lightened in the edit process.

RAF Waddington ha! We arrived at the gates at 7:15 in pouring rain and were waved through. Set up by fence for display, then wandered around in the off/on rain to photograph the Aircraft in the static display.

Feeling pretty down, as this was to be the Vulcan's debut. On the way back to our spot for the show, the heavens just opened up. The display started, and I did not take many pictures.

As Vulcan was being prepared, and almost like it was planned, the skies cleared for the rest of the show.

Closing out this Airshows 2008 Part 1 is Farnborough. Not a bad day, but I was mainly there to meet friends from Canada. The few pictures I did manage to take, I am actually rather pleased with.
