Nine Bae Hawks of the Royal Air Force Red Arrows Escorting
Four Aircraft of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight
Related Notes & Links
Each year the Red Arrows begin their Royal International Air Tattoo appearances with a different
'themed' formation. This year it was a joint effort with Battle of Britain Memorial Flight
with the Red Arrows escorting the four original BBMF Aircraft (3 Spitfire Mk XIX and a Hurricane Mk IIc).
Rolls Royce has loaned the BBMF their Spitfire XIX (PS853/G-RRGN) for the 2007 Display season as their contribution to
the 50th Anniversary of the BBMF and this has allowed the Flight to turn the clock back and display the
same aircraft it was first formed with.
Thankfully the weather was good for the Saturday display which created this stunning shot.
Looking at this shot you can see why the Reds are claimed as the worlds best, just look at
the 5 Aircraft on the left; just perfect.
