Caledonian Airways ordered a total of four BAC One-Eleven 509EW Aircraft from BAC. The first three
were built and delivered sequentially, whilst the Aircraft pictured was last to be be built and
delivered almost a year after the other three.
BAC One-Eleven 509EW c/n 210 G-AXYD
made its Manufacturers Test Flight on the 6th March 1970 and
was delivered to Caledonian Airways on the 18th March 1970, in time for the Summer Season.
The other new build orders being:
c/n 184 - G-AWWX,
c/n 185 - G-AWWY.
c/n 186 - G-AWWZ,
all delivered in March and early April 1969, making them available for that summers charter season.
