As noted in the previous British United Airways when Freddie Laker was Managing Director was launch
customer for the BAC One-Eleven.
It should therefore be no surprise that when operating his own Airline, Freddie Laker turned to the BAC 1-11 to
equip his fleet.
BAC 1-11 Series 320AZ c/n 107 G-AVBW
made its Manufacturers Test Flight on the 17th February 1967 and
was delivered to Laker Airways eight days later, on the 25th February 1967.
This was the first of four BAC 1-11 Series 320AZ Aircraft ordered new by Laker Airways, the others being:
c/n 109 - G-AVBX,
c/n 113 - G-AVBY
and
c/n 133 - G-AVYZ.
