G-AXCK BAC 111-401AK of Dan-Air
London Gatwick - January 1971
Douglas Holland Writes:
Dan Air Services Limited (Operating Titles - Dan Air London and then Dan Air)
To sum up Dan Air in one line:
For 39 Years Dan Air quietly and effectively got on with the business of being an Airline!
Formed 1953 and taken over by British Airways 1992. For 39 Years Dan Air went about the business of being an airline,
with little fanfare, no renaming and for much of its existence was profitable. Whilst others rose, merged/re branded/renamed and fell,
Dan Air 'ploughed its own furrow' and survived.
It would be pointless trying even summarize a 39 Year history (especially one as fascinating as Dan Air) in a picture footnote, cannot even begin to
encapsulate Dan Air the Company, its Aircraft and People. To do Dan Air justice would probably require 4 Volumes, one on
Dan Air Engineering and three covering the various periods of the Airlines History both Operational and Back Office (including Information Technology).
