British Air Ferries at the time this picture was taken, already had long and quite complex lineage, tracing its roots back to Silver City in 1946.
By the early 1960s through merger and ownership change the Company had evolved into British United Air Ferries and later was re branded as British Air Ferries.
In 1971 T. D. "Mike" Keegan, who had founded Trans Meridian Air Cargo, bought a controlling interest in BAF and the above picture was taken during his stewardship of the Airline.
Although ownership changed over the years the BAF name remained until 1993, when the Airline was renamed British World Airways (BWA).
As BWA the company operated from 1993 until the 14th December 2001 when operations ceased due insolvency.
